Thai massage is a type of massage therapy that originated in Thailand and is based on the principles of traditional Thai medicine.
Thai massage involves a considerable amount of stretching and deep pressure techniques that aims to balance the flow of energy in the body and promote physical and mental well-being.
Traditional Thai Massage is more akin to yoga, where you receive your massage on mats on the floor. This is in contrast to a 'normal massage' that most people associate as a Thai massage e.g. through a relaxing or deep tissue massage, where you lie on a special elevated massage bed.
Some of the benefits of Thai massage are:
reducing stress and anxiety by relaxing the nervous system and releasing endorphins.
improving flexibility and range of motion by loosening tight muscles and joints.
enhancing blood circulation and lymphatic drainage by stimulating the acupressure points and meridians.
relieving pain and inflammation by releasing muscle tension and trigger points.
boosting immunity and prevent illness by stimulating the body's natural healing processes.
Thai massage is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels, as it can be adapted to each individual's needs and preferences. However, it is not recommended for people who have certain medical conditions, such as high blood pressure, heart disease, osteoporosis, or skin infections.
You may however benefit from a different type of massage technique e.g. Thai Oil Massage, Deep Tissue or Sports Massage, Head and Shoulder Massage or Foot Massage. Please see our list of massage services.
If you are unsure whether Thai massage is right for you, please consult a doctor before booking a session.
